Marriage Licenses

  • To obtain a marriage license, both the individuals must be present in the Town Clerk’s office.
  • If one or both applicants are under 18 years of age, parental consent is required.
  • Marriage licenses are valid only in New York State.
  • A marriage license is only valid for 60 days beginning 24 hours after the exact time it is issued.
  • Fee:  $40.00
  • Applicants must bring one of the following age-related documents and one of the following identity-related documents:

  1. Birth Certificate                1.   Driver’s license
  2. Baptismal record               2.   Passport
  3. Naturalization record       3.   Employment picture ID
  4. Census record                   4.   Immigration record
  • ALSO – If an applicant has been previously married, a certified copy of the Decree of Divorce, Certificate of Dissolution of Marriage, or Spouse’s Death Certificate must be provided for all previous marriages when applying for the license.
